

Ian Sherrington is a naval architect and structural engineer with over 25 years experience in the marine and offshore industry.
Originally starting his career as a deck officer with BP Tankers, Ian then studied naval architecture specialising in structural engineering. He subsequently worked as a structural engineer on projects such as the Arco Thames AW platform, BP Bruce wellhead platform, Piper B platform and the British Gas Armada platform. This work involved in-place, fatigue, load-out, transportation, launch, lift and ship impact analyses. After a spell in Malaysia working on the Lawit project he then took up a position as marine warranty surveyor working on projects including Hibernia, BP Bruce Phase 2, Brent Spar Decommissioning, Maureen Decommissioning, LGTS pipeline and the Sable Island project etc. Ian also directed the Frigg decommissioning study carried out on behalf of Elf Petroleum Norge, this investigated the methodology, cost and schedule associated with the removal of all steel structures on the Frigg field.
This experience allows Ian to offer specialist services in structural engineering, offshore installation, decommissioning, naval architecture and marine warranty surveying.
